In 2005, the 1000 Smiles Dental Project:

 

· Served over 8,000 Jamaicans in need

· Educated 6,000 children in proper oral hygiene in their classrooms

· Helped over 2,000 Jamaicans with fillings, extractions and cleanings

· Served over 450 Sandals Resorts’ staff

· Had 85 Dental volunteers from all over the USA & Canada

· Delivered over $1,000,000 USD in direct services and education

· Required over 7,000 lbs. of supplies and equipment from the USA

· Cost over $50,000 USD to complete, plus over $200,000 in rooms from Sandals

· Lasted 4 weeks in clinical services and 7 weeks total

· Took place in 8 clinic sites and 20 schools in St. Ann and Hanover

· Is the largest ever dental project in Jamaica and maybe in the world!
